Reading After Twilight 11
As promised, I’m posting my most recently read books. Like many of you, I had a hard time reading ANYTHING after Twilight, that book is so obsessive. But I did manage to find several series that have brought me back down to earth slowly so as now I’m able to enjoy all reading again. First off let me say that I’m not normally a “vampire” book reader. I never got into the Anne Rice books, and I tried to read the Sookie Stackhouse books (before Twilight) because I’d enjoyed the True Blood HBO series. I just couldn’t get into them. Twilight somehow changed how and what I was willing/able to read. Nothing was holding my interest anymore.
So here is a list of my cures… in the order that I found to be best in letting me down gently.
House of Night. IF you read these on your Kindle, they are full of errors… they’re not unreadable but I’m assuming the actual books are in a lot better format. These are very quick reads and it’s a really good story. I enjoyed them a lot and managed to read all of them in about a week.
and the 6th one is due to come out in the fall.
Next is the Vampire Academy Series
This series was a great followup to the House of Night series. It steers you even a little more away from vampires and like House of Night and Twilight is not a stereo-typical mean old, nasty vampire book but rather a good story.
Those are my best recommendations for recovering from Twilight! I hope you enjoy them. I’ve read a lot more since these (not only in the Vampire genre, I was able to branch back out!) so I’ll do another list in another week or so for those of you that weren’t hooked on Twilight like I was!
Ahhhhhh Twilight, I even have my mom hooked on these books now and she despises Vampires and anything that sounds like it could be scary. For the record, Twilight is NOT scary!
