Silence 1

Posted on November 23, 2008 by pages8

I’m not talking about “quiet” but “silence”, complete… total Silence! That’s what I have right now. I’m out at the cabin and am sick… so my husband took all 3 boys with him to do the grocery shopping so I could sleep. I just woke up and am sitting here waiting for them to come back and I’m in complete silence………

No cars, no planes, no dogs barking, no background sound just complete silence. I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard this before. Definitely haven’t since having my boys. No one is whining, no one is fighting, no one is falling down. Just the sound of my fingers on the keyboard seems so loud!

I’m thinking (something else I don’t do often anymore) about growing older. My next birthday is in 2 months and I’ll be 40. I don’t feel 40…. but what is 40 supposed to “feel” like? I wonder if I’ve missed some part of maturing that others grasp quicker than me. I don’t listen to music that makes my children groan, I still get excited about teen culture books like Harry Potter and Twilight, I don’t only watch old reruns of MASH (I had to phrase it like that because I DO like old reruns of MASH, LOL). I wonder if I’m supposed to be more mature than I am? I feel like I’m forgetting something about aging; some act that’s supposed to flip a light on and say “Hey, you’re a grown-up!”. That’s not to say that I don’t feel “40″, I definitely am aging — the mirror tells me so every day. I’ve contemplated hiring some pretty young thing to go to my youngest sons high school graduation in 17 years. I’d pay her to act like she’s his mom and I’d show up as his grandmother… the downsides of being an “older” mom.

Maybe I should turn some music on… I think the silence is getting to me. :D

Here I am 1

I’m at the cabin in the boonies… on my wireless connection! LOL There may not be a t.v. signal but I refuse to go anywhere that doesn’t have wireless… the new version of “roughing it” .

So here I am, the owner of a boy retail store and what did I forget to bring? My 18 month olds shoes!!! I’m sure to face all the problems that prompted me to start my business when I go out tomorrow to try to find him a pair. Leaving at 5:00 in the morning does not enable my thinking cap. DOH!

The drive was thankfully uneventful. An uneventful 11 hours. The most exciting thing that happened was my losing my cell phone signal for about 30 minutes and being unable to check email.. I about hyper-ventilating! Exaggerating since I’ve made this trip a billion times and knew exactly when it was going to happen.

It’s only 6:30 at night but I’m exhausted (and sick)… Nathan rubbed off on me literally… that’s what I get for being his human Kleenex… his cold! My husband has graciously offered to take care of the 3 boys while I snuggle in bed with my nyquil and my book Eclipse.

I hope everyone is doing well! I’m going to check in on facebook before I call it a night. Talk to you tomorrow!

Dog Days 1

Posted on November 21, 2008 by pages8

I spend half my day yelling about dogs… “Nathan, get out of the dog water!” “Ian quit chasing the dogs!”, “Ian quit pulling on his tail!, that’s MEAN!”…. “Nathan, quit going out the doggie door!” You think I’m kidding? LOL Look!

Dogs are a big part of our day… dog days.

We’re going out of town tomorrow..  all of us (including the beasts aka dogs) are all going on a 12 hour road trip tomorrow…. sound fun? Probably not particularly . I should be packing, instead I’m contemplating blogging. I’m also pre-planning my next contest. I have the prize picked out and just have to choose a date. Want a hint? Nope! Not squealing on myself :D   You’ll just have to stay tuned to find out!  Talk to you all tomorrow!

Where’s my tantrum? 0

Posted on November 21, 2008 by pages8

I’d like to have a tantrum this morning… one just like the one that my newly 4 year old just threw.  I’d love to stomp my feet and let big ole crocodile tears roll down my face while I scream about some imagined (or even sometimes real) injustice.  Instead I’ll just listen to the music of my 4 year old and my 1 year old fighting… it’s less fighting but more like (4 yr old) “No, No, No” and (1 yr old)  “WHAAAAaaaaaaaa”.  The reason?  Because they’re in close proximity of each other…

So here I sit drinking my coffee and enjoying the show.
